Why Work with Me?
You’ve seen the doctors. You’ve had the tests. You’ve been told everything is “normal” — yet you still don’t feel normal.
I get it, because I’ve been there myself. The frustration of knowing something isn’t right, while struggling to get answers, can be incredibly exhausting.
At Ahurani Herbalist, I take the time to listen, look at the bigger picture and help you join the dots.
No judgement. No rushing you out the door. Just personalised herbal support designed around you, your symptoms and your journey — alongside your existing healthcare team.
Sometimes you don’t need another person telling you that nothing is wrong. You need someone willing to listen.

About Deborah
I am a registered practitioner with the Naturopath & Herbalist Association of Australia, specialising in Western Herbal Medicine. I bring my nursing background with me, having worked in hospitals and palliative care for over 25 years. In 2019 I graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Herbal Medicine from the Australian College of Natural Therapies (now Torrens University). Having experience in both primary healthcare and complementary medicine gives me the unique ability to fully understand what you’re going through, how to work with pharmaceutical medications and support your recovery holistically.

FAQ
How often should I take my herbs?
Herbal medicines are usually prescribed 2 - 3 times per day. Your health professional will provide a prescription with the correct dosing freuqnecy for you. Most liquid herbs, but not all, are prescribed at 7.5 ml twice a day or 5 ml three times a day, diluted in 10-20 mL water or non-acidic juice.
Just remember to take 2 hours away from other pharmaceutcal medications to ensure the best absorption and reduce any interactions.
What do herbs taste like?
Most herbal liquids are very strong and bitter, but they are the fastest way into the body to act effectively.
The taste can be softened with the addition of a non-acidic juice (10-20 mL) - apple, blackcurrant or pear juice are good options.
How often do I need to make an appointment?
I recommend at least 2-3 weeks in the beginning, I find this works the best for most clients when we start working towards your health goals. After this, appointments can vary depending on your symptoms/progress. However, it's common to require a follow-up consultation after 4-6 weeks.
What is the difference between a naturopath and herbalist?
Both work holistically to treat the body, investigating and treating the cause instead of symptom management. This means you have the opportunity for bringing balance back to your body from a cellular level.
- Herbalists work exclusively with plant base medicine, their training is focused and dedicated to the healing properties of plants. Herbalists use personalised liquid herbal medicine to restore balance and heal the body. They also have access to a range of practitioner-only herbal tablets, powders and other formulations that can assist you in your journey to a healthier you. With a primary focus on using plant-based medicine it means herbalists acquire a deep understanding of the energetics and phytotherapeutic benefits herbal medicine can have on healing.
- Naturopaths study many modes of healing including nutrition, health psychology, iridology, flower essence and botanical medicine. A naturopath would be considered more of a generalist in all these areas of holistic healing rather than a specialist.
